Possible Causes
Blocked ventilation openings, Overheated electronics due to poor installation clearance, Faulty NTC temperature sensor on heat sink, Defective cooling fan
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Switch off the cooktop and allow it to cool for at least 30 minutes. Do not cover the ventilation openings.
User checks:
- Ensure that air inlets and outlets under the worktop and in the cabinet are not blocked by drawers, insulation, or stored items.
- Remove any objects stored directly under the cooktop that may obstruct airflow.
- Verify that the cooktop was installed according to the Siemens installation manual (minimum ventilation clearances).
Technician checks:
- Disconnect power at the breaker.
- Remove the cooktop and inspect the cooling fan for free rotation and cleanliness. Clean dust from fan and heat sink.
- Test the NTC temperature sensor on the heat sink with a multimeter for correct resistance vs. temperature.
- Check wiring from the sensor to the power module for damage or loose connectors.
- Replace the cooling fan or power module if they fail tests or show visible damage.
If E1 recurs immediately after cooling and ventilation correction, professional service is strongly recommended.
