Possible Causes
Cooling fan failure, Dust-clogged heat sink, Blocked ventilation openings, Defective temperature sensor on heat sink
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off the cooktop and isolate it from the mains. Allow at least 30–60 minutes for internal components to cool.
User actions:
- Ensure that the cabinet under the cooktop is not packed with items blocking airflow.
- Check that no decorative panels or aftermarket modifications are covering ventilation slots.
Technician actions:
- Remove the cooktop from the worktop after disconnecting power.
- Inspect and clean the cooling fan and heat sink using a soft brush and vacuum.
- Spin the fan by hand to check for stiffness or noise; replace if not running freely.
- Test the heat sink NTC sensor for correct resistance.
- If the fan and sensor are OK, the power module may be overheating internally and should be replaced.
Persistent E5 errors after cleaning and fan replacement require professional diagnosis.
