Siemens
Delayed Ignition / Poor Flame Establishment
Gas burner clicks (sparks) but does not light or takes a long time to ignite
Advertisements
Possible Causes
Clogged burner ports, Misaligned burner cap, Low gas pressure, Partially blocked injector (jet)
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn the burner knob off and wait for gas to dissipate if ignition fails. Do not repeatedly spark for long periods.
User actions:
- Remove the burner cap and crown. Clean all burner ports with a soft brush and a wooden toothpick (never metal wire that can enlarge ports).
- Ensure the cap is seated flat and centered when reassembled.
- Check that the flame is blue and stable when it does ignite; yellow or lifting flames indicate gas/air issues.
Technician actions:
- Inspect and clean the injector (jet) with appropriate tools; do not enlarge the orifice.
- Verify gas pressure at the appliance inlet matches Siemens specifications.
- Adjust air shutter (if present) for proper flame.
