Possible Causes
Burned-out radiant element, Loose or burned wire at element terminal, Failed infinite switch or relay
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power at the breaker. Radiant elements can remain hot even when dark; allow full cool-down.
Steps:
- Access element: Remove the cooktop from the counter and lift the glass top per the service instructions to expose the radiant elements.
- Inspect wiring: Check for burned or loose wires at the element terminals. Repair or replace any damaged wiring with high-temperature-rated wire.
- Continuity test: Disconnect at least one lead from the suspect element and test for continuity. An open circuit indicates a failed element.
- Replace element: Install the correct OEM radiant element. Ensure all mounting clips and temperature limiters are properly positioned.
- Control check: If the element tests good, test the infinite switch or relay output to the element. Replace the switch or control board if it does not supply power when commanded.
Note: Handle the glass top carefully to avoid cracking.
