Possible Causes

Liquid spill on touch panel, Failed capacitive touch sensor board, Loose ribbon cable between glass UI and control board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn the unit off and disconnect power before removing any trim or glass. Glass edges can be sharp; wear cut-resistant gloves.

Steps:

  • Dry the surface: Wipe the glass clean and dry. If a large spill occurred, allow several hours for moisture under the glass to evaporate. Try operating again.
  • Lock feature: Confirm that the control lock (child lock) is not engaged. Refer to the user manual for the specific key sequence to unlock.
  • Inspect ribbon cable: If the error persists, remove the cooktop and carefully lift the glass top as per service instructions. Locate the flat ribbon cable from the touch panel to the control board. Ensure it is fully seated and not damaged.
  • Check for cracks: Inspect the underside of the glass where the touch sensors are bonded. Cracks or delamination can cause false touches and errors; in such cases, the glass-top/user interface assembly may need replacement.
  • Replace UI board: If wiring is good and the glass is intact, replace the user interface/touch control board with the correct OEM part.

Note: Avoid using excessive liquid cleaners directly on the touch area; spray onto a cloth instead to reduce the risk of future moisture intrusion.
