How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off gas supply at the shutoff valve and disconnect electrical power before servicing. Ensure the area is well ventilated and free of gas odor before proceeding.
Steps:
- Dry out moisture: If the error occurred after a spill or cleaning, remove burner caps and grates. Use a dry cloth and gentle airflow (fan) to dry around the burner bases and electrodes. Allow several hours to fully dry, then restore power and gas and test.
- Inspect electrodes: Check each spark electrode for cracks, heavy buildup, or misalignment. Clean with a non-abrasive pad and ensure the tip is close to the burner port as per the manual.
- Check harness: With power off, lift the cooktop surface (or remove burner deck) to access the ignition harness. Inspect for damaged insulation or loose connections at the ignition module and electrodes.
- Test spark module: Restore power with gas still off. Turn a burner knob to ignite and observe for spark at each electrode. If no electrodes spark and E10 remains, the ignition module is likely faulty and should be replaced.
- Replace ignition module: Install the correct OEM spark ignition module, transferring each harness lead one at a time to avoid miswiring.
Warning: Never operate the cooktop if you smell gas. Shut off gas and contact a professional immediately.
