Possible Causes

Failed broil element (electric), Open broil igniter (gas), Faulty relay on electronic oven control

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power and, for gas models, shut off gas supply before servicing. Use caution when working near sharp metal edges.

Steps:

  • Visual inspection: For electric broil, inspect the broil element for breaks, blisters, or burn marks. For gas broil, inspect the igniter and burner for damage or heavy buildup.
  • Continuity test: Remove at least one wire from the broil element or igniter and test for continuity with a multimeter. An open circuit indicates a failed component.
  • Replace failed component: Install the correct OEM broil element or broil igniter. Ensure all mounting screws are tight and wiring connections are secure.
  • Control/relay check: If the element/igniter tests good, check for voltage at the component terminals when broil is commanded. If no voltage is present, the relay on the electronic oven control may be faulty and the control board will need replacement.

Note: Always verify that the oven door position (open/closed) is correct for broil operation as specified in the user manual.
