How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before removing the control panel or display assembly. Use ESD precautions when handling boards.
Steps:
- Inspect connections: Remove the control panel bezel to access the display board. Check the ribbon cable and connectors between the display and main control. Reseat all connectors.
- Check for heat damage: Look for discoloration or warped plastic around the display area, which may indicate overheating from nearby lights or components.
- Measure low-voltage output: With power restored, carefully measure the low-voltage output from the main control to the display (per service manual). If voltage is unstable or low, the main control board may be failing.
- Replace display board: If the supply voltage is correct but the display remains dim or flickers, replace the display/user interface board with the correct OEM part.
Note: Some dimming over many years is normal, but an E17 code indicates a fault condition that should be corrected.
