Possible Causes
Failed membrane keypad, Loose keypad ribbon cable, Liquid intrusion into control panel
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before removing the control panel. Glass and metal edges can be sharp.
Steps:
- Dry and clean: If the issue followed a spill, allow the control panel to dry thoroughly. Do not use heat guns directly on the panel.
- Inspect ribbon cable: Remove the control panel and check the keypad ribbon cable connection to the control board. Reseat the cable and ensure the locking tabs are engaged.
- Test keypad: With power restored, test each button. If some keys work and others do not, the membrane keypad is likely failing.
- Replace keypad/control panel: Install the correct OEM control panel or keypad assembly. Transfer any trim or brackets as needed.
Note: Avoid using excessive liquid cleaners on the control panel to prevent future failures.
