Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power to the range. If you smell gas, shut off gas supply and ventilate the area immediately.
Steps:
- Dry spill areas: Remove burner grates and caps. Dry around each burner valve and switch area thoroughly. Allow several hours for internal moisture to evaporate.
- Test switches: With power off, access the burner valve switches (usually under the cooktop surface). Inspect for corrosion or melted plastic. Disconnect each switch one at a time and restore power briefly to see if the clicking stops, identifying the faulty switch.
- Replace faulty switch: Replace any switch that is shorted closed or physically damaged with the correct OEM burner valve switch.
- Inspect spark module: If all switches test good but clicking persists, the spark module may be defective and should be replaced.
Note: Do not leave the unit powered with continuous clicking; it can wear out the spark electrodes and be a nuisance.
