Possible Causes

Failed burner valve switch, No power to spark module, Defective spark ignition module

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker before accessing internal components. Shut off gas if you will be working near gas connections.

Steps:

  • Test other burners: Turn other burner knobs to ignite. If none spark, suspect a power or module issue. If only one burner fails, suspect its valve switch or electrode.
  • Verify power: Confirm the outlet or junction box supplying the cooktop has power. Reset any GFCI or breaker if tripped.
  • Inspect switches: Lift the cooktop surface to access the burner valve switches. Test the suspect switch for continuity when the knob is in the ignite position. Replace any switch that does not close properly.
  • Check spark module: If switches are good and power is present, but no clicking occurs, replace the spark ignition module with the correct OEM part.

Note: Some models share a single spark module for all burners; a failure can affect all ignition simultaneously.
