Possible Causes

Shorted touchpad membrane, Failed electronic oven control board, Moisture or grease contamination on control, Loose ribbon cable between keypad and control

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn the range OFF at the breaker or unplug it before removing any panels. Do not work on live circuits.

  • Power reset: Turn the breaker off for 5 minutes, then restore power. If F1 returns immediately, the fault is likely permanent.
  • Check for stuck keys: With power off, wipe the control panel on your Summit range with a slightly damp cloth, then dry thoroughly. Look for any keys that feel stuck or do not click.
  • Inspect keypad ribbon: Remove the backguard panel behind the control. Locate the flat ribbon cable from the keypad to the electronic control board. Reseat it firmly. Look for corrosion or burnt spots.
  • Isolate keypad vs. board: If the keypad is a separate part, disconnect the keypad ribbon from the control board, restore power briefly. If F1 appears with keypad disconnected, replace the electronic oven control (EOC). If F1 does not appear but you cannot use the oven, replace the keypad/touch panel.
  • Reassemble: Turn power off again, reassemble the backguard, and restore power after parts are replaced.
