Possible Causes

Shorted oven temperature sensor, Sensor wiring shorted to chassis, Moisture in sensor connector, Failed control board sensor input

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker before working on the range.

  • Visual inspection: Remove the rear panel. Inspect the sensor harness where it passes through the oven back wall on your Summit range. Look for insulation melted against metal or signs of moisture.
  • Resistance test: Disconnect the sensor and measure resistance at room temperature. If it reads very low (near 0 Ω) or fluctuates when you gently move the wire, replace the oven temperature sensor.
  • Check for shorts: With the sensor disconnected, check continuity from each sensor lead to chassis ground. There should be no continuity. If there is, repair the harness or grommet where it passes through the oven wall.
  • Control board: If sensor and harness are good, the control's sensor circuit may be shorted internally. Replace the electronic oven control board.
