Possible Causes
Oven cavity still too hot, Door lock motor not completing unlock cycle, Faulty door lock switch, Control not receiving unlock signal
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Do not force the door open; glass can shatter if stressed while hot.
- Allow cooling: After a self-clean cycle on a Summit range, the door can remain locked for up to an hour. Wait until the oven is completely cool.
- Attempt unlock: Press CLEAR/OFF and then try opening the door. If still locked, start a short bake cycle, let it run 1–2 minutes, cancel, and wait a few minutes to see if the lock resets.
- Manual release: If the door remains locked when cool, disconnect power, remove the top or rear panel, and manually move the lock arm to the unlocked position.
- Inspect lock assembly: Check the lock motor and switch for damage or binding. Replace the door lock assembly if it does not move freely or the switch does not change state.
