Possible Causes

Closed gas shutoff valve, Air in gas line after installation, Faulty spark module, Disconnected or clogged burner orifices

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: If you smell gas strongly, do not attempt to light burners. Turn off the gas supply, ventilate the area, and contact your gas supplier or a technician.

  • Check gas valve: Verify the manual shutoff valve supplying your Summit range is fully open (handle parallel to the pipe).
  • Bleed air: After installation or gas interruption, air may be in the line. Try lighting one burner and hold the knob in the LITE position for up to 30 seconds. Repeat for each burner until gas reaches the cooktop.
  • Inspect burner caps: Ensure burner caps are correctly seated on the burner bases. Misaligned caps can prevent ignition.
  • Clean orifices: Remove burner caps and heads. Use a soft brush or a wooden toothpick to clear debris from the gas ports and the central orifice area. Do not enlarge holes.
  • Spark module: If there is no clicking on any burner, check that the range is plugged in and the outlet has power. If power is present but no spark, the spark module may need replacement.
