Electric oven will not heat, display shows E01 shortly after a heating command is selected.
Safety Warning
This repair may involve working with high voltage components or water connections. Always unplug the appliance before removing any panels.
If you are not confident in your ability to perform this repair safely, we strongly recommend contacting a professional technician.
Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Switch off the cooker at the wall isolator and remove the fuse or switch off the circuit breaker. Confirm the appliance is completely cold before working near the oven cavity.
- Power reset: Turn off power for 5–10 minutes, then restore power and try a low-temperature bake setting. If E01 reappears, continue.
- Check sensor connection: Remove the rear panel of the cooker. Locate the oven temperature sensor (usually a thin metal probe entering the oven cavity with two wires leading to a connector). Ensure the connector to the main control board is fully seated and not burnt.
- Inspect wiring: Look for damaged, pinched, or burnt wires between the sensor and the control board. Repair or replace any damaged wiring using high-temperature-rated cable and proper crimp connectors.
- Test the sensor: With power still OFF, disconnect the sensor and measure resistance with a multimeter. A typical Zanussi NTC sensor is around 500–1100 Ω at room temperature (check service data if available). If it reads open (OL) or near 0 Ω, replace the sensor.
- Control board check: If the sensor and wiring test good but E01 persists, the electronic oven control (EOC) may be faulty and require replacement. This usually involves transferring each wire one-by-one from the old board to the new one, following the wiring diagram.
When to call a professional: If you are not comfortable using a multimeter or removing the rear panel, or if the control board appears damaged, contact a qualified Zanussi service technician.
