Possible Causes

Blocked cooling vents, failed hob cooling fan, dust buildup on heat sinks, cookware covering control area causing heat buildup

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Switch off the hob at the mains and allow it to cool completely before inspection.

  • Check ventilation: Ensure that the hob has the required clearance underneath and that cabinet panels or drawers are not blocking the cooling air path. Follow Zanussi installation guidelines for minimum clearances.
  • Inspect cooling fan operation: During normal use, you should hear the cooling fan running at low speed. If E05 appears and you never hear a fan, the fan may have failed. With power disconnected, access the underside of the hob and check that the fan spins freely and that its connector is secure.
  • Clean air paths: Use a vacuum cleaner and soft brush to remove dust from the fan intake, exhaust vents, and heat sinks on the power module. Do not use liquids.
  • Test again at lower power: After cleaning and ensuring ventilation, run the hob at a lower power setting and see if E05 reoccurs. Persistent E05 may indicate a faulty temperature sensor on the power module or a failing fan, requiring replacement.

Note: If the fan is not running at all or is noisy and slow, replacement of the cooling fan assembly is recommended.
