Possible Causes

Failed cooling fan (for built-in ovens), blocked ventilation, faulty high-limit thermostat, stuck heating relay on control board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off power and allow the oven to cool completely before inspection.

  • Check cooling fan operation: On models with a tangential cooling fan, the fan should run during and after cooking. If it does not, check the fan for free rotation and test for supply voltage when the oven is on (qualified persons only). Replace the fan if seized or open-circuit.
  • Inspect vents: Ensure front and rear ventilation slots are not blocked by cabinetry, foil, or other obstructions.
  • Check high-limit thermostat: Access the rear or top of the oven to locate the high-limit thermostat. Some are manual reset (small button in the center). Press gently to reset if tripped. If it trips repeatedly, investigate cooling and control issues.
  • Control board check: If the oven continues heating after being switched off at the control panel, the heating relay may be stuck closed. In this case, replace the main control board.

Warning: Repeated overtemperature faults indicate a serious issue; do not continue using the oven until the cause is resolved.
