Possible Causes

Open-circuit refrigerator NTC sensor, Shorted refrigerator NTC sensor, Damaged sensor wiring harness to main PCB, Faulty main control board (Candy PCB)

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the Candy refrigerator from the mains before removing any panels or testing components.

This error usually indicates a problem with the refrigerator (fridge) compartment temperature sensor (NTC).

  • Power reset: Disconnect power for 5–10 minutes, then reconnect. If E1 returns, continue.
  • Access the fridge NTC: The Candy fridge sensor is typically clipped behind the inner liner near the air outlet or on the rear wall. Remove the internal cover or light housing as needed.
  • Inspect wiring: Check the NTC sensor leads and connector going to the main control board for corrosion, broken insulation, or loose plugs. Reseat the connector firmly.
  • Test the sensor: Using a multimeter set to kΩ, measure resistance at room temperature (around 20–25°C). A typical Candy NTC will read roughly 4–10 kΩ. Infinite (open) or near 0 Ω (short) indicates a bad sensor.
  • Replace if faulty: If readings are out of range, replace the refrigerator compartment NTC sensor with a compatible Candy sensor. Route the new sensor in the same channel and ensure good contact with the liner.
  • Check the PCB: If the sensor tests good and wiring is intact, the main control board may be defective. Visually inspect for burnt components. Replacement of the Candy main PCB is recommended to be done by a qualified technician.
