Possible Causes
Open-circuit freezer NTC sensor, Shorted freezer NTC sensor, Damaged harness between freezer sensor and PCB, Faulty Candy main control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect the refrigerator from power before working inside the cabinet or on the control board.
E2 typically points to a freezer temperature sensor issue.
- Locate the freezer NTC: On Candy no-frost models, the freezer sensor is usually clipped to the evaporator or mounted on the rear freezer wall behind an internal cover.
- Remove the inner panel: Empty the freezer, remove drawers and the rear plastic panel to access the evaporator and sensor.
- Check connections: Inspect the sensor plug and wiring for ice damage, corrosion, or broken wires. Defrost any heavy ice build-up around the sensor.
- Measure resistance: At room temperature, the NTC should read in the low kΩ range (commonly 4–10 kΩ). At freezer temperature, resistance will be higher. If the meter shows open or short, the sensor is faulty.
- Replace sensor: Install a new Candy-compatible freezer NTC sensor, securing it in the original clip or bracket. Avoid crushing the cable when refitting panels.
- Evaluate PCB: If the sensor and wiring are good but E2 persists, the main control board may need replacement. This should generally be done by a professional.
