Possible Causes

Defective ambient NTC sensor, Loose or corroded ambient sensor connector, Damaged wiring between ambient sensor and PCB, Faulty Candy main PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the appliance before removing any covers.

Many Candy refrigerators use an ambient sensor to optimize compressor operation.

  • Locate ambient sensor: It is often placed behind the front control panel, near the top hinge area, or behind a small grille on the cabinet front.
  • Inspect sensor and wiring: Remove the control panel or trim as needed. Check for pinched wires, moisture ingress, or loose connectors.
  • Test the sensor: With a multimeter, measure resistance at room temperature. Compare to typical NTC values (around several kΩ). A reading of infinite or near zero indicates failure.
  • Replace sensor: If faulty, install a new Candy ambient NTC sensor. Route the cable as originally installed and secure it away from sharp metal edges.
  • Check control board: If the sensor tests OK, the main PCB may misread it. Inspect the board for damage; replacement is usually required if defective.
