Possible Causes

Grass or debris jammed in drive wheels, Worn or damaged wheel gearbox, Excessive slope or obstacle causing stall, Faulty drive motor current sensor on main board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn OFF the main power and disconnect the battery before touching the wheels or underside.

  • Inspect wheels: Check both drive wheels for wrapped grass, string, or wire around the axles. Remove any obstructions with pliers or a brush.
  • Check wheel rotation: Manually rotate each drive wheel. They should turn smoothly with some gearbox resistance but no binding or grinding.
  • Inspect gearbox housing: Look for cracks or signs of impact on the wheel motor/gearbox assembly. A damaged gearbox can cause internal binding.
  • Reduce load: Avoid steep slopes and large obstacles. Adjust the mowing area in the app or boundary settings to exclude problematic zones.
  • Test drive: With the mower on a flat surface, reconnect power and start a manual drive or test mode if available. If E04 returns immediately on one side, that drive motor/gearbox assembly is likely failing.
