Possible Causes

Broken boundary wire, Disconnected boundary wire at charging station, Faulty boundary transmitter module, Corroded boundary terminals on base station

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn OFF the mower and unplug the charging station from mains before handling boundary connections.

  • Check base station LEDs: Most Segway base stations have an indicator for boundary signal. Refer to the manual to confirm if the signal LED is solid or flashing. If off, suspect the transmitter or power supply.
  • Inspect boundary connections: At the charging station, remove the boundary wire ends from the terminals. Trim 1 cm of insulation to expose fresh copper and reinsert firmly. Tighten the terminal screws.
  • Look for wire breaks: Walk the perimeter and visually inspect for damage from gardening tools, pets, or vehicles. Pay special attention to areas where the wire crosses paths or driveways.
  • Test continuity: Use a multimeter set to continuity or resistance. Disconnect both ends at the base and measure across the loop. A very high resistance or open circuit indicates a break.
  • Repair breaks: Use waterproof boundary wire connectors to join broken sections. Bury or peg the repaired section securely.

If the boundary wire is intact and E05 persists, the boundary transmitter module in the charging station may need replacement.
