Possible Causes

Side brush tangled with cords or carpet fringe, Side brush bent or deformed, Side brush motor failing, Side brush gearbox obstructed

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Switch the robot OFF and remove it from the dock.

  • Check side brushes: Turn the robot over and inspect each side brush. Remove hair, threads, and debris from the bristles and from around the mounting hub.
  • Verify free rotation: Spin each side brush by hand. It should rotate smoothly without grinding or stiffness. If it is stiff, remove the brush screw, pull off the brush, and clean the shaft.
  • Inspect for damage: If the side brush is warped or cracked, replace it with an AEG-compatible side brush.
  • Test again: Reinstall the brushes, power the robot ON, and start a cleaning cycle.
  • If E2 remains: The side brush motor or gearbox may be damaged. Replacement of the side brush motor module is required; this typically involves opening the chassis and should be done by a service technician.
