Possible Causes
Debris jammed in drive wheel, Worn or damaged wheel bearings, Drive wheel motor failing, Obstruction in wheel suspension mechanism
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn OFF the robot and remove it from the dock.
- Inspect drive wheels: Check both left and right wheels for trapped debris (rubber bands, hair, carpet fibers). Remove any obstructions with tweezers.
- Check wheel travel: Press each wheel up and down. It should move freely in its suspension. If it sticks, clean around the wheel well with a soft brush or compressed air.
- Spin wheels: Rotate each wheel by hand. If you feel grinding or stiffness, the internal gearbox may be damaged.
- Clean floor sensors: Wipe the cliff and floor sensors near the wheels with a dry microfiber cloth to ensure proper traction control.
- If E3 persists: The affected drive wheel motor assembly likely needs replacement. This requires opening the robot and disconnecting motor wiring from the main PCB; contact an AEG service center.
