Possible Causes

Cliff sensors covered with dust, Robot used on reflective or very dark surfaces, Faulty infrared cliff sensor module, Loose sensor wiring to main PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Turn OFF the robot and remove it from any elevated surfaces.

  • Locate cliff sensors: These are usually small windows on the underside near the front edge.
  • Clean sensors: Wipe each sensor window gently with a dry microfiber cloth. For stubborn dirt, use a slightly damp cloth and dry immediately.
  • Test on different floor: Place the robot on a light-colored, non-reflective hard floor and start a cleaning cycle to see if the error clears.
  • Check for damage: Inspect the underside for cracks or impact damage around the sensors.
  • If E6 remains: The cliff sensor module may be defective or disconnected internally. Replacement requires opening the bottom cover and should be done by a technician.
