Possible Causes
Stripped gears in main brush gearbox, Foreign object inside gearbox, Gearbox lubrication dried out, Misaligned brush drive coupling
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF the robot and remove it from the dock. Do not run the unit while it is making loud mechanical noises.
- 1. Remove main brush and clean: Take out the main brush and clean it thoroughly as described for E1. Inspect the drive end for damage.
- 2. Inspect drive socket: Look into the brush drive socket on the robot. Check for broken plastic, missing teeth, or foreign objects.
- 3. Test without brush: With the brush removed, power ON the robot and start cleaning. Listen to the gearbox. If grinding persists or the motor spins freely without load, the gearbox is likely damaged.
- 4. Replace gearbox module: Most Amazon Basics robot vacuums use a combined main brush motor and gearbox module. Access it by removing the bottom cover, unscrewing the module, and disconnecting its cable from the main PCB. Install a compatible replacement module and reassemble.
- 5. Verify operation: Reinstall the main brush and test a full cleaning cycle, listening for abnormal noises.
