Possible Causes

Dust bin not seated correctly, Suction inlet clogged, Fan motor obstructed by debris, Fan motor failure or burned winding

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn OFF the robot and unplug the charging dock before working on the unit.

  • 1. Check dust bin installation: Remove the dust bin from the rear or top of the robot (depending on model). Reinsert it firmly until it clicks. Some Amazon Basics models have a bin presence switch; if the bin is not fully seated, E3 can appear.
  • 2. Empty and clean the dust bin: Open the bin and empty debris. Remove the filter and tap it gently to remove dust. Do not wash non-washable HEPA filters unless the manual explicitly allows it.
  • 3. Inspect suction path: Look into the suction inlet on the robot and the outlet on the dust bin. Remove any clogs (paper, pet hair clumps, etc.).
  • 4. Check the fan intake: With the bin removed, visually inspect the fan intake opening. Use a flashlight to look for foreign objects blocking the impeller.
  • 5. Test the fan: Reinstall the bin, power ON the robot, and start cleaning. Place your hand near the exhaust vent to feel for airflow. If there is no airflow and E3 returns, the fan motor may be defective.
  • 6. Advanced repair: Replacing the suction fan motor assembly requires opening the top cover, disconnecting the fan wiring from the main PCB, and removing the fan housing. This should only be done if you are comfortable with electronics and after the warranty period. Otherwise, contact Amazon Basics support or a technician.
