Possible Causes
Battery pack aged or degraded, Battery connector loose, Charging contacts dirty, Internal battery protection circuit tripped
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF the robot and remove it from the dock. Do not short the battery terminals.
- 1. Clean charging contacts: Wipe the metal contacts on the robot and dock with a dry cloth. If heavily tarnished, use a lightly dampened cloth and dry thoroughly.
- 2. Check dock power: Ensure the dock is plugged in and the indicator LED (if present) is lit. Try a different wall outlet.
- 3. Charge fully: Place the robot on the dock and allow it to charge uninterrupted for at least 4–6 hours. Confirm that the charging indicator on the robot is active.
- 4. Inspect battery connection: If comfortable and out of warranty, remove the bottom cover to access the battery compartment. Verify that the battery plug is firmly connected to the main board and that there is no corrosion.
- 5. Evaluate runtime: If the robot still shows E8 or runs only a few minutes before shutting down, the rechargeable battery pack is likely worn out and needs replacement.
- 6. Replace battery: Purchase a compatible Amazon Basics robot vacuum battery pack (matching voltage and connector). Disconnect the old pack, install the new one, secure it, and replace the cover. Fully charge before use.
