Possible Causes

Boundary sensor dirty or misaligned, Magnetic strip installed incorrectly, Faulty magnetic sensor (Hall sensor), Loose sensor wiring

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off the robot before handling boundary accessories.

  • Verify boundary placement: Ensure Bissell magnetic boundary strips are flat on the floor with the correct side up as specified in the manual.
  • Clean sensor area: Wipe the underside front area where the boundary sensor is located with a dry cloth.
  • Test with known-good strip: Place a short piece of boundary strip in front of the robot and start a cleaning cycle to see if it stops at the strip.
  • If E17 continues: The internal boundary detection sensor (often a Hall sensor) may be faulty. Replace the boundary sensor module.
