Possible Causes

Dirty infrared cliff sensors, Obstructed sensor windows, Failed cliff sensor module, Loose sensor harness to main PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn the robot OFF before cleaning sensors. Do not use solvents on plastic windows.

  • 1. Move to a flat, hard surface: Place the robot on a level floor (tile, wood, laminate) away from edges or dark rugs that may confuse sensors.
  • 2. Clean cliff sensors: Locate the downward-facing sensors along the front underside of the robot. Wipe each sensor window gently with a soft, dry microfiber cloth. If needed, lightly dampen the cloth with water and dry immediately.
  • 3. Check for physical damage: Inspect the sensor windows for cracks or deep scratches that could distort readings.
  • 4. Reboot and test: Power the robot back on and start a cleaning cycle. If E08 clears, monitor operation near stairs to ensure proper edge detection.
  • 5. Internal check (advanced): If the error persists, remove the bottom cover and verify the cliff sensor harness is securely connected to the main PCB.
  • 6. Replace sensor module: Replace the Electrolux cliff sensor array or individual sensor board if one or more sensors are non-functional.
