Possible Causes

Debris jammed behind front bumper, Broken bumper spring, Faulty bumper switch or IR sensor, Misaligned bumper assembly

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn the robot OFF before manipulating the bumper.

  • 1. Check bumper movement: Gently press the front bumper in and release. It should move freely and spring back evenly across its width.
  • 2. Remove debris: Inspect the gap between the bumper and the main body. Use compressed air or a thin plastic card to dislodge dust, hair, or small objects.
  • 3. Clean bumper sensors: If your Electrolux model uses IR collision sensors, wipe the transparent windows behind the bumper with a soft cloth.
  • 4. Reboot and test: Power on the robot and start a cleaning cycle. Lightly tap the bumper to confirm it registers collisions and releases properly.
  • 5. Internal inspection (advanced): Remove the top cover or front cover (depending on model) to access the bumper switches or sensor board. Check that the springs are intact and the switches are not stuck in the pressed position.
  • 6. Replace bumper assembly or sensor board: If the bumper does not move freely or the switches are defective, replace the Electrolux front bumper assembly or collision sensor PCB.
