Possible Causes

Overheated battery pack, Faulty battery temperature sensor (NTC), Shorted battery cell, Defective charging circuit on mainboard

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: If the robot or battery feels hot, turn it OFF immediately and remove it from the charging base. Allow it to cool in a non-flammable area. Do not puncture or open the battery pack.

  • Step 1 – Cool down: Let the robot sit powered OFF for at least 30 minutes. Then place it back on the dock and monitor for abnormal heating.
  • Step 2 – Check environment: Ensure the charging base is in a cool, well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight or heaters.
  • Step 3 – Inspect battery: Remove the battery cover and visually inspect the Medion battery pack. If it is swollen, leaking, or smells burnt, discontinue use and replace it immediately.
  • Step 4 – Check NTC sensor wiring: Many Medion packs include a temperature sensor wire. Ensure the battery connector is fully seated and that no sensor wires are broken.
  • Step 5 – Replace battery: If E9 persists and the pack shows signs of age (short runtime, frequent shutdowns), replace the battery pack with a compatible Medion Li‑ion pack.
  • Step 6 – Mainboard diagnosis: If a new battery still triggers E9, the charging/monitoring circuit on the mainboard may be defective and should be replaced by a technician.
