Neabot Side Brush Stall / Overcurrent Protection

Robot vacuum reports E1 and will not start cleaning; often accompanied by a voice prompt about a stuck side brush or obstruction near the edge-cleaning area.

Possible Causes

Hair or string wrapped around side brush hub, Side brush motor overloaded or failing, Debris jammed between side brush and chassis, Damaged side brush gearbox

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Power off the Neabot robot vacuum and flip the main power switch (if present) to OFF. Remove it from the charging dock before working on the underside.

  • Inspect the side brush: Turn the robot over and locate the side brush module. Gently try to rotate the side brush by hand. If it feels stiff or stuck, remove the retaining screw and pull the brush off.
  • Remove debris: Use scissors or tweezers to cut and pull away hair, string, and carpet fibers from the side brush hub and the brush post on the chassis. Clean the area around the side brush motor opening.
  • Check the gearbox: With the brush removed, rotate the drive post gently. It should turn smoothly with slight resistance. If it is seized or grinds, the side brush motor/gearbox assembly may be failing.
  • Reinstall or replace: Reinstall the side brush firmly. If the bristles are deformed or the hub is cracked, install a new Neabot-compatible side brush.
  • Reset and test: Turn the main power back on, place the robot on a flat surface, and start a cleaning cycle from the app or the power button. If E1 persists after cleaning, the side brush motor module likely needs replacement.

Warning: Do not force the side brush to turn with tools; this can strip gears or damage the motor. If you smell burning or see melted plastic, stop and contact a technician.
