Possible Causes

Front bumper jammed by debris, Side of robot wedged under furniture, Drive wheel caught on threshold or cable, Cliff sensor misreading dark flooring as a drop

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn the robot OFF with the power switch (if present) or remove it from the dock and press the power button to shut it down before handling the wheels or underside.

  • Free the robot: Lift the robot away from the obstacle, cable, or threshold. Place it on a flat, open floor area.
  • Check the front bumper: Gently press the front bumper in and release across its full width. Make sure it moves freely and springs back. Remove any hair, string, or debris trapped at the bumper edges.
  • Inspect drive wheels: Flip the robot over on a soft surface. Spin each drive wheel by hand and check for hair, threads, or debris wrapped around the wheel hubs or axles. Cut away debris carefully with scissors.
  • Clean cliff sensors: Wipe the downward-facing cliff sensors with a soft, dry microfiber cloth. Avoid liquids. Dark or glossy floors can sometimes trigger false cliff readings; try starting the robot in a different area.
  • Test operation: Power the robot back on, place it in the center of a room, and start a cleaning cycle. If the error repeats in open space, the bumper or wheel sensor may be failing and require replacement.
