Possible Causes
Depleted lithium‑ion battery pack, Faulty battery protection PCB, Damaged DC charging jack or contacts, Internal power harness loose
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn the robot OFF with the main power switch (if present) and remove it from the charging base. Do not open the battery compartment if the pack is swollen or hot.
- 1. Hard reset: Turn the main power switch OFF for 30 seconds, then ON again. Place the robot on the base and allow it to charge for at least 3 hours before retrying.
- 2. Check charging contacts: Inspect the two metal charging pads on the robot and the base. Clean them with a dry cloth or a cloth slightly dampened with isopropyl alcohol. Make sure the robot sits flat on the base and the contacts align.
- 3. Inspect power adapter: Verify the Rowenta power adapter LED is lit and the output plug is firmly seated in the base. If the adapter is cold and no LED is on, test with another compatible Rowenta adapter if available.
- 4. Battery check: If the robot immediately shows E1 after being fully charged, the lithium‑ion battery pack may be defective. Remove the battery cover (usually held by Phillips screws), check for corrosion or swelling. Do not puncture or crush the pack.
- 5. When to stop: If the battery is swollen, leaking, or the robot smells of burnt electronics, stop using it and replace the battery pack or contact a Rowenta service center.
