Possible Causes

Dirty cliff sensors, Damaged infrared emitter/receiver, Loose cliff sensor harness, Strong ambient light interference under robot

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn the robot OFF and place it on a stable table or floor.

  • 1. Locate cliff sensors: On the underside, find the small downward‑facing windows near the front edge (usually 3–4 sensors).
  • 2. Clean sensors: Wipe each sensor window with a soft, dry microfiber cloth. For stubborn dirt, lightly dampen the cloth with water or isopropyl alcohol and dry immediately.
  • 3. Test on light floor: Move the robot to a well‑lit, light‑colored hard floor and start a cleaning cycle. Avoid placing it near stairs during testing.
  • 4. Check for physical damage: Inspect the sensor windows for cracks or deep scratches. If one is damaged, the entire cliff sensor module may need replacement.
  • 5. Internal check (advanced): Remove the bottom cover and verify the cliff sensor harness is firmly connected to the main PCB.
