Possible Causes

Dirty infrared cliff sensors, Faulty IR emitter/receiver pair, Disconnected cliff sensor harness, Damaged lower sensor board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off the robot and keep it away from stairs during testing.

  • 1. Clean cliff sensors: Locate the small windows on the underside front of the SilverCrest robot (usually 3–6 sensors). Wipe them gently with a soft, dry cloth. For stubborn dirt, use a slightly damp cloth and then dry.
  • 2. Test on light surface: Place the robot on a flat, light‑colored floor away from edges. Power it on and start cleaning. If E09 disappears, the issue was likely dirt or dark flooring confusing the sensors.
  • 3. Avoid reflective/dark surfaces: Highly reflective black carpets or glass floors can trigger false cliff readings. Test on a different area to confirm.
  • 4. Check sensor harness (advanced): Remove the bottom cover and locate the cliff sensor board and its cable to the main PCB. Ensure the connector is fully seated and not damaged.
  • 5. Replace sensor board: If E09 persists on normal flooring with clean sensors, replace the SilverCrest cliff sensor board assembly.
