Possible Causes
Obstructed IR receiver window on robot, Dirty IR emitters on dock, Failed IR receiver module on robot, Dock placed in poor location
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Keep the area around the dock clear while testing.
- 1. Clean IR windows: Wipe the dark plastic window on the front of the SilverCrest robot and the IR emitters on the dock with a soft cloth.
- 2. Reposition dock: Place the dock against a wall on a flat floor with at least 1.5 m clear space in front and 0.5 m on each side. Avoid corners, mirrors, and direct sunlight.
- 3. Test manual docking: Start the robot near the dock and press the Home/Dock button. Observe whether it turns toward the dock. If it drives randomly, the IR receiver may not be working.
- 4. Check dock power: Ensure the dock LED is on. If the dock is not powered, the robot cannot detect it.
- 5. Replace IR receiver (advanced): If cleaning and repositioning do not help, the SilverCrest dock IR receiver board or the main PCB input may be faulty and require replacement.
