Possible Causes
Worn or damaged fan motor bearings, Debris in fan housing, Worn main brush bearings, Loose internal screws or panels
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF the robot and remove it from the dock.
- 1. Isolate noise source: Run the robot briefly and listen to determine if the noise comes from the fan area (center/top), brush area (bottom front), or wheels (sides).
- 2. Service brushes: Remove and clean the main brush and side brush. Replace them if the end caps are worn or the shafts are loose.
- 3. Clean fan path: Remove the dust bin and inspect the fan intake for debris. Do not insert tools into the fan while powered.
- 4. Tighten external screws: With the robot powered OFF, check and gently tighten accessible bottom plate screws to reduce rattling panels.
- 5. Fan inspection (advanced): If the noise is clearly from the fan and persists after cleaning, the fan motor bearings may be worn. Replace the fan motor module.
Warning: Persistent grinding or screeching noises indicate imminent motor failure. Continued use can cause overheating and damage to the main PCB.
