Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Remove power or batteries before opening the thermostat casing.
Steps to check:
- Power-cycle: Remove power for several minutes, then restore. Temporary bus lockups can clear with a full restart.
- Check RF module seating: On some Salus smart thermostats, the RF or Zigbee/Z-Wave module is a small plug-in board. With power off, gently press the module to ensure it is fully seated in its connector.
- Update firmware: For app-connected models, check the Salus app for available firmware updates and apply them, ensuring power and internet remain stable during the process.
- Reduce interference: Keep the thermostat away from strong RF sources (Wi-Fi routers, DECT phones) that may interfere with internal communication.
Resolution: If E8 persists, the internal RF module or main PCB is likely defective. Replace the thermostat head or RF module as supplied by Salus.
