Possible Causes
Faulty receiver relay, Broken wire between receiver and boiler, Incorrect wiring to COM/NO terminals, Boiler external controls not enabled
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Isolate mains power to the boiler and receiver before working on wiring.
Steps to check:
- Check receiver status: On Salus RF systems, verify that the receiver's output LED lights when the thermostat calls for heat. If not, re-pair the thermostat and receiver.
- Listen for relay click: When calling for heat, listen for a click from the receiver. No click suggests a failed relay or control circuit.
- Verify wiring: Confirm that the boiler's room thermostat or external control terminals are wired to the receiver's COM and NO (normally open) contacts as per the boiler and Salus wiring diagrams.
- Bypass test (advanced): With power off, temporarily link the boiler's thermostat terminals directly (bypassing the receiver). Restore power; if the boiler now fires, the issue is with the receiver or its wiring.
Resolution: Repair or replace damaged wiring and replace the Salus receiver if its relay does not switch correctly.
