Possible Causes
Open-circuit floor probe, Shorted floor probe cable, Damaged sensor wiring in conduit, Incorrect sensor type configured
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Floor sensors are low voltage, but they may be routed near mains cables. Isolate power to the UFH controller before opening junction boxes.
- Check configuration: In the Wiser app or thermostat menu, confirm that a floor sensor is enabled only if one is actually installed, and that the correct sensor type is selected.
- Inspect sensor cable: At the thermostat or UFH controller, gently tug the floor sensor wires to ensure they are firmly clamped in the terminals.
- Measure resistance: With power off, disconnect the floor sensor and measure its resistance using a multimeter. Compare with the manufacturer’s chart (typically 5–20 kΩ at room temperature). Infinite or near-zero resistance indicates a fault.
- Check for damage: If the sensor cable runs in a conduit, inspect accessible sections for crushing or drilling damage.
- Replace sensor: If the probe is faulty, install a new compatible Wiser floor sensor. If the cable is embedded and cannot be replaced, configure the thermostat to use air temperature only (if allowed) and monitor floor temperature carefully.
