Wiser
Under-Heating / Early Cut-Off
Room never reaches the set temperature; heating cuts off early
Advertisements
Possible Causes
Incorrect thermostat placement (cold draught), Radiators not balanced or airlocked, Incorrect system type configuration, Faulty temperature sensor reading high
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Bleeding radiators and adjusting valves involves hot water; use gloves and a cloth. Do not touch boiler internals unless qualified.
- Verify setpoint and schedule: Ensure the target temperature and schedule in the Wiser app are correct and not being overridden by eco modes.
- Check thermostat location: Avoid mounting near doors or windows where cold draughts can cause premature shutoff.
- Bleed radiators: Use a radiator key to release trapped air from radiators that are cold at the top. Retighten once water appears.
- Balance system: Adjust lockshield valves so that all radiators heat evenly. This may require a heating engineer.
- Compare temperature: If the thermostat reads higher than actual room temperature, its sensor may be faulty and the thermostat should be replaced.
