Possible Causes
Improper outdoor enclosure sealing, Standing water around base, Salt-air exposure, Damaged paint or coatings
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disable automatic start. Corroded electrical connections can overheat; inspect carefully.
- Address drainage: Ensure the generator pad drains properly and water does not pool around the base.
- Clean and protect connections: Remove light corrosion from terminals with a wire brush and apply dielectric grease. Replace heavily corroded lugs or connectors.
- Touch-up paint: Clean rusted metal surfaces, apply rust converter if needed, and repaint with CAT-approved touch-up paint.
- Seal enclosure: Inspect door gaskets and cable entry points. Replace damaged gaskets and reseal penetrations to reduce moisture ingress.
Severe structural corrosion on the frame or tank may compromise safety and should be assessed by a CAT technician.
