This repair may involve working with high voltage components or water connections. Always unplug the appliance before removing any panels.
If you are not confident in your ability to perform this repair safely, we strongly recommend contacting a professional technician.
Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disable automatic start and allow the engine to cool before checking oil.
- Confirm oil level: Use the dipstick to verify oil level is within the marked range. Adjust if necessary.
- Inspect oil level sensor: Locate the oil level sensor on the oil pan or crankcase. Check the connector for corrosion, oil intrusion, or loose fit. Clean and reseat the connector.
- Check wiring harness: Follow the harness from the sensor to the controller. Look for chafed insulation or pinched wires. Repair or replace damaged sections.
- Level the generator: Ensure the generator base is level. Excessive tilt can cause false low-level readings on some sensors.
- Clear code and test: Clear E-10 and run the generator while monitoring for reoccurrence.
If the sensor continues to trigger falsely, replace it with a CAT-approved oil level sensor. If the code persists after replacement, the controller input may be faulty and should be checked by a technician.
