Inadequate Ventilation / Cooling Airflow Restriction
Generator enclosure is very hot to the touch, components show heat discoloration

Possible Causes
Blocked air intake or discharge louvers, Failed enclosure fan (if equipped), Generator installed too close to walls, Debris buildup inside enclosure
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Hot surfaces can burn. Allow the unit to cool and disable automatic start before inspection.
- Inspect louvers and grilles: Remove leaves, dust, or snow blocking air inlets and outlets. Ensure louvers open fully.
- Check clearance: Verify that the generator has the minimum clearances specified by CAT from walls and other structures.
- Enclosure fan: If equipped, confirm that any electric enclosure fans run when the generator is operating. Replace failed fans.
- Clean interior: With power off, remove debris from inside the enclosure, especially around the radiator and alternator.
Persistent overheating despite good airflow may indicate undersized installation or internal cooling issues that require professional evaluation.
