Possible Causes
Faulty run relay, Weak battery voltage under load, Loose control wiring, Defective fuel shutoff solenoid
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disable automatic start and isolate AC output. Be cautious around moving parts.
- Monitor battery voltage: Measure battery voltage during crank and initial run. If it drops significantly, the controller may reset. Charge or replace the battery if needed.
- Inspect fuel shutoff solenoid: Verify that the fuel solenoid remains energized after start. Listen for a click when it drops out. Check its wiring and connector.
- Check run relay: Locate the run relay in the control panel. Inspect for heat damage and ensure it is seated properly. Replace if suspected faulty.
- Wiring inspection: Look for loose or corroded connections on the controller power and run circuits.
If the engine still will not stay running, a CAT technician should check the control logic and safety circuits.
