Possible Causes
Worn carbon brushes on AEG motor (if brushed type), Faulty motor tachometer, Loose motor connector, Defective motor winding, Faulty motor control circuit on PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect mains power before accessing the motor.
- Check drum movement: Rotate the drum by hand. It should move smoothly without grinding or stiffness.
- Inspect motor connections: Remove the rear panel, locate the motor at the bottom of the tub, and check that the wiring connector is fully seated and undamaged.
- Check carbon brushes (if fitted): Remove the motor and inspect the brushes. If they are shorter than about 1 cm or unevenly worn, replace with genuine AEG brushes.
- Test tachometer: Measure resistance of the tachometer coil on the motor. An open circuit indicates a failed tacho that usually requires motor replacement.
If mechanical parts are fine but E50 persists, the motor control section of the PCB may be faulty and should be diagnosed by a technician.
