Possible Causes

Worn or broken carbon brushes (on brushed motors), Faulty drive motor, Loose or broken motor wiring harness, Defective motor triac on control PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect from mains before accessing the rear panel or motor. The drum and motor can be heavy.

  • Check drum movement: With the machine off, open the door and rotate the drum by hand. It should turn smoothly without grinding or seizing.
  • Inspect drive belt: Remove the rear panel. Check that the belt is still on the motor pulley and drum pulley. If it has slipped off, inspect for fraying or stretching and refit or replace as needed.
  • Check motor connections: Ensure the motor plug is fully seated and that no wires are broken or burnt.
  • Carbon brush check (if fitted): On brushed motors, remove the brushes and inspect their length. If they are worn down to a few millimetres, replace both with compatible Bush motor carbon brushes.
  • Test cycle: Reassemble and run a spin cycle. If E06 persists and the motor does not attempt to turn, the motor or control PCB may be faulty. Motor replacement is usually within DIY scope; PCB repair is best left to a qualified technician.
